Sulabh Lavatory Museum in Delhi

Have you ever been to the Sulabh International Museum of Toilets?

No, this is not a roadside gimmick by a vagabond. This is indeed a museum itself in New Delhi that houses a collection of lavatory items including a replica of Louis IXV's throne with a hidden commode. The monarch is allowed to pass his motion while going through the motions of the day attending the court and listening to his visitors.

Dr. Bindeshwar Pathak of Sulabh International Social Service Organization has brought this idea to life. It is the same man who has transformed the lives of millions of people in India and in South Asia with his invention of low-cost composting 'Simple' (or Sulabh) latrines. His latrines range from Rs.1,500/- to Rs.15,000/-.

Dr. Pathak, a Brahmin by birth, has single-mindedly worked hard to rehabilitate over hundred thousand Dalit scavengers. Dr. Pathak has recently won the Stockholm Water Prize, an equivalent of Nobel Prize.

Next time you visit a loo, remember that you can start a social revolution right there.
