The word yoga was derived from Yuj which means unity, or integrity. Therefore yoga is an art of integrated living. It is not merely certain postures of bending and twisting our bodies or praying like Mantis.
A tree lives in unison with nature. Grass, for instance, dries up when there is no water but retains its life in its roots. When rain drops again, the roots are happy to spring up alive into blades of grass.
For a human being, though, to live in one with nature takes conscious efforts. In the manifested universe, life has taken many evolutionary steps. Man, it seems is the ultimate last step in this evolution. His attempts to realize himself, his source and his destination culminates with him sitting down to travel inwards. Introspection leads to silence.
As he dwells more into the depths of inner silence visions of his true self and that nature around him descends upon him. Such a revealed person shall not harm another living being and shall help a living being in pain. That alone can be the starting step towards Yoga, can it not?
